We’ve received the following Special Outreach Request:
Schiele Museum of Natural History
1500 E Garrison Blvd
Gastonia, NC 28054
The Schiele Museum is having the grand opening of their Elizabeth Williams Robinson Hall of Dinosaurs, and they have asked for anyone in the NCFC that would like to display their collections to come out for the weekend! The grand opening celebration is occurring on Saturday, September 26th from 9 AM to 5 PM, and on Sunday, September 27th from 1 PM to 5 PM. This has the potential to be a rather large event, so any with a collection to display, large or small, will be highly appreciated!
Highlights of their new exhibit include:
- 14 full-bodied prehistoric skeleton casts
- An authentic dinosaur fossil displaying healed wounds from a T. rex attack
- Engaging and interactive displays
- Specimens unique to the Southeast, including Appalachiosaurus, the East Coast’s answer to T. rex
- Opportunities to collaborate with educational institutions across the Southeast, including Appalachian State University, McWane Science Center, and University of New Orleans
Important: The museum is working on getting reduced hotel rates for any NCFC displayers who would like to stay locally; further details will come as volunteers are found.
Any members interested in this Outreach opportunity, please contact Tony Shaver at <outreach@ncfossilclub.org> AND Nathan Chapman at nathan.chapman@gastonianc.gov
