The NCFC met March 15, 2026 at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh. The in-person speaker was Dr. Matthew Borths, paleontologist and the Curator of Fossils at the Duke Lemur Center Museum of Natural History where he is responsible for over 35,000 specimens that help connect lemurs to humans through the fossil record. His research focuses on the early evolution of mammals, especially primates and carnivores. He is part of field projects in Wyoming, Kenya, Egypt, Peru, and Madagascar. He also works with curators and researchers to make research collections more accessible to a wider audience through digitization and outreach. The title of his talk was: “On the Trail of Fossil Primates from Wyoming to Madagascar.” A video of his presentation is available on the Club’s YouTube channel here:
